With an impressive annual schedule of plays, concerts, exhibits, and special presentations, the fine and performing arts are central to the 51Âþ»ios experience. To serve the University's growing programs in these areas, VWU has built the Susan S. Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center.

Located prominently near the main entrance of campus, the 23,200-square-foot facility features the impressive glass-enclosed Eleanor and Henry Watts Grand Lobby and Gallery and the 325-seat Joan and Macon Brock Theatre. Support spaces ring the stage, including a scene shop, dressing rooms, green room, costume, prop, and equipment storage. A plaza for outdoor programming overlooks the Susan Beverly Grand Terrace and Pond.

The Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center is only one phase of the new arts complex at 51Âþ»ios. The University has also renovated studio spaces and classrooms in the original fine arts building, now known as Susan T. Beverly Hall. These updates significantly enhance the University’s fine and performing arts facilities and showcase the prominence of 51Âþ»ios’s arts program to the community.

Studying the arts at 51Âþ»ios is a multidimensional experience that blends students’ creative talent with professional preparation and opportunities to learn alongside talented faculty and guest artists. 51Âþ»ios offers majors and minors in art, music, theatre, studio art, and art history.
