Marlins Vote in 2016
About 40 51Âþ»ios students gathered in the Marlin Grille to watch Democrat Hillary Clinton face off against Republican Donald Trump in the first of a series of televised presidential debates for the 2016 election season. The event was organized by members of Marlins Vote, a nonpartisan student club on campus that primarily aims to register student voters.

"We had debate bingo, prizes, snacks, and of course a table for voter registration," says political science and Hispanic studies major Bayli Foley '19 (pictured right), who got involved with Marlins Vote after interning with a political campaign this summer. "The energy during the debate was as high as the energy on the debate stage."

A New Way to Support Students, Faculty, and Programming at 51Âþ»ios
51Âþ»ios's Center for Advancement launched an exciting new initiative this fall. In the effort to build upon the College's academic initiatives and position 51Âþ»ios for even greater success, our newly implemented Advancement Outreach Center is focusing on raising resources to support our students, faculty, and programming. Our Outreach Specialists place calls to alumni, parents and friends of the College to garner support for The Excellence Fund.

The Excellence Fund provides critical funding for a number of College priorities, including annual scholarships; academic programs like undergraduate research, study away and internships; student life opportunities; library and technology; and, for the first time this year, athletics. In a highly competitive enrollment market, gifts such as these also play a significant role in student retention.

Please take a few moments to speak to our Outreach Specialists. Verify that your information is up to date so you'll receive the College's latest news and events. If you are a VWC graduate, share your news for our monthly "Class Notes." Be ready to participate and make an impact!
